A Twitter thread, in six tweets

On the evening of November 17, 2022, I tweeted thusly:

Lesson 1: Before you ask people to be hardcore-devoted to you, first you need to demonstrate that you have the qualities of a leader. In THEIR eyes, not yours.

Lesson 2: Actually, you don’t ever ask people to be devoted to you. Instead, you inspire it.

Lesson 3: If you need to make let people go (and sometimes you will) FIRST get rid of those who will voluntarily walk away. THEN reassess needs.

Lesson 4: The way you treat people at a lower station than you reflects the kind of person you are at your core.

Lesson 5: Make a point of getting out of your own bubble often. Especially: listen carefully and dispassionately to anyone who might criticize you.

Lesson 6: Perspective is worth 80 IQ points. This could be positive or negative, depending on whether you made it out of your bubble or not.
