Single Sign-off

So, I've mentioned here obliquely that I'm doing something new at Yahoo!, but never actually talked about it. Now, finally I can.

A pressing problem for web users everywhere is maintaining their privacy by signing off from services after use, particularly on public terminals. Users are often overwhelmed by all the different choices in this area, and they get annoyed at having to repeatedly perform manual sign-offs. That's why I'm working on a universal single sign-off platform that will apply not just to Yahoo! properties but also Google, Microsoft MSN Windows Live .NET.com, and any other service imaginable.

I'm really excited by this technology, as it builds on a popular technical base of XLink, SOAP, XML Schema, XML namespaces, with a good mix of WHATWG technology as a bonus. Here's to a better future web! -m

It would had been tough to top last years Microsoft spoof, but I'll admit that you had my on this one at least 10 seconds longer than last.  The difference is, however, last year it was more of "huh... well, I guess anything CAN happen", and this year I sorta just stared at the screen blankly and wondered what kind of Kool-Aid that have you drinking over there at Yahoo! :D
