At least the rejections are getting better...

I guess I'm at the stage now where story rejections come back with helpful/encouraging notes attached.

Anonymization guide:

{onlinemag} = name of excellent online fiction mag

{coeditor} = first name of other editor

{othermag} = name of another excellent online fiction mag

We've considered your rewrite of "The Knuth Number," but unfortunately we've decided not to take it for {onlinemag}. {coeditor} and I can't quite see eye to eye on this one, I'm afraid; I still really like it, but {coeditor} isn't quite convinced. Ultimately when we can't agree we tend to decline, and I'm afraid that's the case here. I do hope that you can place this one somewhere else, though--have you tried {othermag}, by chance? That market seems like it might be a good fit. Anyway, sorry again for the wait, but thanks for trying us again and I hope you'll send us more when you can.
