Shallow bugs?

Somebody tell me again the one about all bugs being shallow in the presence of many eyeballs...

A few days short of a year ago, I posted my Web Search Without the Web demo. Since then, thousands upon thousands of eyeballs have looked at the page. Some even seent cheery comments. There's one problem though--until today, the code didn't work!

It should have been fairly obvious. Search for a term like "NForms" or "LaTeX" (the first two things that come up if in the index if you view source), and you'd find two hits apiece. Click through to the actual page, though, and the term is nowhere to be found. I only now discovered this, while doing a review of the code for inclusion in the forthcoming O'Reilly Ajax Hacks book.

Anyway, it's fixed now. Hooray for search engines completely in the browser! -m
