Google me this...

I caught nearly none of the Web 2.0 conference itself (quick impression: great to be there for one day, but I probably wouldn't want to spend all three days there). One bit I did catch was "from the labs" on Friday, featuring the Taglines project I spent so much time on.

You can write me off as a biased observer, but I legitimately have a question about the Google presentation and the audience response. The researchers opened with a comment along the lines of "the more employees we have, the more things we work on". This got a laugh, which judging by the presenters' reactions, was unexpected. One guy in the audience was rauciously, mockingly cackling. For several seconds after everyone else politely stopped.

Why? I'm not even going to write down my obvious initial guess. Your insights are welcome. Comment away, and feel free to state the obvious. -m
